Volnay Santenots is unique in that it is harvested on the Meursault border. Around two hundred years ago, the great red wines harvested on this finage began to be called Volnay Santenots. "Firm, full-bodied, beautifully colored, rich in alcohol and bouquet, frank in taste and with good ageing potential, this powerful nectar with a remarkable personality seems to combine all the richness of the Côte de Nuits grands crus with the finesse of the Volnays it borders", wrote Camille Rodier in his 1931 book Les Grands Vins de Bourgogne.
