In a few words ...

La rioja alta - ardanza reserva 2009la rioja alta, s.a. is located in the rioja region of spain. The estate was founded in 1890 by five RIOJAN and BASQUE families. The original rioja alta winery is based in haro, but there is a second labastida site in rioja alavesa, built in 1996. In 1904, the ardanza winery, owned by don alfredo ardanza, joined the rioja alta. To mark the occasion, gran reserva 904 is produced for the first time. Grupo la rioja alta also owns the torre de oña estate in the alavesa sub-region of la rioja, ribera del duero and lagar de cervera in the rias baixas region of galicia. The estate comprises some 660 hectares of vineyards around the rioja. The winery in Haro includes a cooperage, where the barrels are made from American oak. The racking of each barrel is carried out by candlelight, to eliminate the sediment in a natural way, and also to enable the team to monitor each barrel individually.la rioja alta, s.a. is committed to the environment: limited treatments in the vineyards, investment in clean energy, water conservation, solar farms, corks and cans are also sustainably managed. Today, 16 hectares are certified organic and the aim is to increase this proportion. The Board of Directors has also launched the viña ardanza solidario program, whereby 1% of annual net profits (with a minimum of 100,000 euros per year) is allocated to humanitarian and philanthropic causes.the ardanza reserva 2009 is a blend of tempranillo (80%) from the 30-year-old la cuesta and montecillo vineyards in fuenmayor and cenicero, and garnacha (20%) from the la pedriza tudelilla vineyard in rioja baja. Alcoholic fermentation took place naturally. Malolactic fermentation was completed at the end of the year. In March 2010, the selected wines were put into barrels to begin aging separately: tempranillo for 36 months with 6 manual rackings in 4-year-old American oak barrels, and garnacha for 30 months with five manual rackings in two- and three-year-old American oak barrels. Final blending took place after barrel ageing. The wine was bottled in May 2014.cépages: 80% tempranillo, 20% garnacha
