In a few words ...

Vosne is said to derive from vidumos, meaning forest. It is said that Gauls who were enlisted for twenty years by Caesar were rewarded with a gift of vineyards, which subsequent generations would name Romanée. Vosne appears in a document written around 636/650 under the name of vanoa. The great historian Claude Courtépée often said: "There are no common wines in Vosne". Two complementary terroirs unite in this wine to sublimate the expression of pinot noir: they give birth to a harmonious wine of great nobility. 2017 was a particularly successful vintage for the estate, and this Vosne-Romanée "vieilles vignes" is a real beauty: dominated by sappy fruit, it boasts a fine density of tannins, the result of innovative ageing. This first-rate cuvée will accompany game dishes for at least 15 years. 100% pinot noir. Grapes from "le clos solon", "les chenevery", "les crais" and "les cognées" plots. The soils are limestone mixed with clayey marl at depths ranging from a few dozen centimeters to 1 meter. Eastern exposure. Only a few thousand bottles produced each year. Aged partly in old oak barrels and partly in jars, to preserve the freshness of the fruit.
