Dark red color with violet highlights. On the palate, dark berries such as ripe blackberries and blackcurrants open up to fine woody notes. The palate is full and expansive, supported by firm tannins that give the wine structure and length. When the name francis ford coppola is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is the godfather or apocalypse now, but in the world of wine, coppola's success as a wine producer is as legendary as his work as a director. These are his two great passions: "winemaking and filmmaking are two great art forms", he says himself. Over the last few decades, coppola has produced a series of highly successful wines in collaboration with his excellent oenologist corey beck. He has become one of napa valley's most dynamic wine producers, and corey beck was voted 'winemaker of the year 2012' by the san francisco international wine competition. In 1979, francis ford coppola acquired part of the once world-famous inglenook estate in napa valley, which had been founded by finnish captain niebaum 100 years earlier. His first wine was made in a barn on the estate. In just a few years, coppola led the stately home to new glory. Thus was born the rosso & bianco line, inspired by his childhood as the grandson of an Italian immigrant family. During Prohibition, francis ford coppola's grandfather, agostino, had grapes sent from california to make wine in the cellar of his new-york apartment. Because, according to the Italian way of life, wine has always been a perfectly normal food. A meal without wine, however simple, is simply unthinkable! Zinfandel is part of the diamond collection.
