Deep ruby red. Expressive aromas of red fruits with balsamic notes. Soft and round with a magnificent tannic structure, lively with a persistent finish. The grapes come from vineyards protected by historic methods that allow the use of artificial chemicals to be dispensed with. Strict conditions are observed to guarantee the quality of the harvest. After the ripe grapes have been harvested and destemmed, fermentation takes place at strictly controlled temperatures. The young wine is then aged for at least 12 months in 225-liter American oak barrels. The packaging has also been designed with eco-responsibility in mind. The capsules are made from organic polyethylene (biodegradable plastic) and acrylic paint, the bottles are the lightest on the market, the label is made from 15% citrus pulp and 40% recycled paper, and the cardboard is pefc and fsc certified. As early as 1970, 'el coto de rioja' harvested its first grapes in the rioja, but the first wines were not marketed until 1975. The original winery is located in oyón, in the south-east of the rioja alavesa, and is still in operation today. Thanks to high quality standards and constant innovation and development, by 2000 'el coto de rioja' had established itself as the Spanish market leader in the crianza and reserva categories, a position the company can still claim today. The winery's facilities have been steadily modernized and expanded over the years: el coto now has 12 buildings, each designed to handle a particular type of wine. With over 730 hectares of vineyards under its ownership, el coto is an important winery in the doc rioja. Allergene:enthält sulfite
