The winemaker

It was in the 1970s, after decades of neglect, that Raoul and Jayne Beaumont took the gamble of replanting vines on the Schist soils near the family farm. Since then, the Beaumont family has produced wines that reflect the unique terroir of Bot River Valley: benefiting from a relatively cool climate and the minerality of the schist soils, the estate's wines reveal a particularly blatant aromatic complexity. Sebastian strives to make the most of the combination of our unique climatic conditions, soils and proximity to the sea to produce artisanal wines full of character that express their terroir. He firmly believes that "a vine in trouble makes the best wine".
