Schieferkopf is a new revelation of Alsace and German terroirs. On the French side, the estate, farmed organically, is located on the only vein of blue schist in Alsace. In Germany, three vineyards boast exceptional terroirs. On both sides of the Rhine, the vines benefit from maximum sunshine and a mosaic of complex soils, bringing subtleties to the grape varieties. Riesling, for example, has its roots in schist soil, while German Riesling is grown on granite. One grape variety, two distinct personalities. on this berg 2019, the nose is fine, with notes of mirabelle plum, fresh citrus fruits of tangerine and grapefruit, and hints of menthol and celery. On the palate, the salinity takes over and harmonizes with the voluptuousness of the wine. 100% Riesling. Acidic brown soils derived from villé schist. Aged for 10 months on fine lees in tuns.
