The new rules for the production of village wines in Alsace came into effect with the 2011 harvest. Today, only 13 villages can benefit from this label. The village of Gueberschwihr has the potential quality and reputation to be one of them, and we have the wines to prove it, but unfortunately for the application to be accepted by the Inao, it must also be made by a significant number of winegrowers who claim and sell Gueberschwihr wines. To date, we're the only ones who want to use the Gueberschwihr name, so we have to stop using it. Starting with the 2011 harvest, this wine is therefore renamed 'Calcaire', which corresponds to the geological nature of this terroir. The 2011 grapes were healthy and had reached good ripeness, making for a dry wine.
Appearance
The color is bright yellow.
Aroma
The nose expresses citrus and fruit aromas, and is already inviting you to taste it today. The velvety palate finishes with ripe acidity that conceals the wine's density.
Wine Fruity
Taste
The palate has the fatness and density typical of clay-limestone soils. The mid-palate is still round, but the wine finishes with the structure of a dry wine, where acidity plays its balancing role.
