The origins of Malbec. With this cuvée, Bertrand-Gabriel Vigouroux explores a new facet of the Haute-Serre terroir, following the same vinification and ageing process as for his Malbecs. This 100% Prunelard is the result of work begun 10 years ago on the estate to prepare plot 127 to receive this rare and ancient grape variety, the "father" of Malbec. Vineyard: Sustainable viticulture (HVE) Soil... : Clay-limestone (Kimmeridgian limestone) Period: Jurassic, 150 million years old Typicity: iron concretions, red clay Location: On hillsides, plateau Altitude: 300 m AGEING & VINIFICATION - Strict control of vinification temperatures. - Fermentation in stainless steel vats followed by 100% aging in 225-liter barrels of 3rd passage for 12 to 18 months. - The wine rests in bottle for a further 12 to 18 months before release. At the origin, yes the violet is present, the color is not deceiving, it is indeed the 4orgine of Malbec, but softer.
