The Domaine du Mas Saint Louis was founded by Jean-Louis Geniest at the beginning of the 20th century. He himself was the heir to a long tradition of cooper-tailors whose family had settled on the banks of the Rhône in the 18th century. Jean-Louis Geniest had the idea of regrouping the family lands located near the old road from Avignon to Châteauneuf du Pape, in order to constitute a domain worthy of the name.

The vineyard of Mas Saint Louis extends almost exclusively to the south of the appellation Châteauneuf du Pape, with the exception of a small plot of Syrah grape variety, adjacent to the Cave de Châteauneuf du Pape, located in the heart of the village.
