The winemaker

Since its legendary 1840 vintage to the stunning Vintage Fonseca reported during the last decade, the house has made an impressive series of exceptional vintages, even in the worst moments in the history of trading. James Suckling in his authoritative book in the field, talking about it in these terms: "The Fonseca Vintage Porto is perhaps in its consistent quality, constant, the greatest of all. Not only is distinguished in his youth by his fleshy opulence and power, but it retains the youthful freshness through the decades. " The maintenance of a constant quality can be explained not only by the continuity of the family business and the transmission of knowledge between generations, but also by the existence of close links with the vine. The peculiar character of Fonseca Vintage Portos is indeed based on the soils embodied in its three areas of Cruzeiro, Panascal and Santo Antônio. Ardent supporter of a culture of respectful vine of the environment in the Douro Valley, a unique natural environment in the world, home Fonseca is a leader in sustainable and organic viticulture development. It is at the origin of the first port wine from grapes of organic farming. However, for many wine lovers worldwide, Fonseca is best known as a producer of Bin No. 27. Wine assembly in the line of great Vintage Ports of Fonseca Bin 27 displays this opulent and fruity character that defines the style of the house. Launched 40 years ago, this wine quickly became the darling of lovers of Porto. Perhaps more than any of its competitors, Fonseca has built a hardcore base of Porto who appreciate the authenticity of the brand and the unmistakable character of its wines. Connoisseur, collector, sommelier, restaurateur or mere taster, they are increasingly likely to favor wonderfully rich and complex ports of this last house expert in customer loyalty.
