Pauillac is made mainly from young vines, less prestigious terroirs and wines that do not meet the Forts de Latour selection criteria (specific to each vintage). The Pauillac vinification process includes around 20% new barrels, the proportion varying according to the vintage profile. The typical Château Latour Pauillac blend is usually around 45% Merlot. This luscious, fruity wine is an excellent introduction to the family of wines produced by Château Latour. It is a pleasure to drink after 4 to 5 years of ageing, while retaining its good cellaring potential.
