The Morgon appellation covers 1090 hectares, making it the largest Beaujolais cru after Brouilly. Six climats divide the appellation into three bands, the most famous being cote de py. This cru produces robust, generous, fruity wines reminiscent of cherry, kirsch and apricot. It can be kept for 3 to 10 years. In these parcels of Beaujolais, the soil contains much more sand and schist, which gives this appellation different characteristics from other Beaujolais crus. These are firmer, more colorful wines
