Located in north-eastern Spain, Calatayud is part of the Aragon wine region. Vineyards stretch along both sides of the river Jalon. The wide temperature variations between day and night and the continental climate, with hot, dry summers and cold winters, have a major influence on the characteristics of the wines. The soils are mainly limestone on marl and sandstone. The blending of different grape varieties produces quality wines. The aim of a cuvée is to strike an optimum balance between the individual characteristics of the grape varieties used: aromas, body and mouthfeel, fruitiness and acidity, alcohol, tannins and bitterness, and balance on the finish.
