In a few words ...
Initially a sommelier all over the world, jacques février was inspired to become a winemaker when he spent a year working for anton von klopper at domaine lucy margaux in australia. He then returned to France to follow a training course in Alsace, where he met paul gillet, followed by a spell with noëlla morantin in the loire. Originally from Brittany, jacques and his wife moved to the muscadet region in oudon in 2014, and took over a 6-hectare estate with 6 grape varieties (gamay, abouriou, cabernet franc, melon de bourgogne, pinot gris and sauvignon). He converted the estate directly to organic farming via the nature et progrès label. The vines are located on the north bank of the Loire on the Ancenis hillsides, planted on schist and gneiss terroirs. In the cellar, Jacques works mainly with fiberglass vats and a few barrels for certain cuvées, depending on the vintage. He generally adds little or no sulfites and excludes the use of chemical inputs. Over the past few years, in response to numerous frost episodes, the winemaker has developed a wine-making business.
