Intense, bewitchingly fruity nose, fine notes of herbs and spices, extremely elegant and complex with great finesse. It's been 40 years since émile peynaud, the father of modern oenology, declared that the bierzo region in northwestern spain had one of the best terroirs in the world for producing quality wines. This is finally the case today. A small group of oenologists has set out to confirm the old master's wise prediction, and to bring the mencía grape, originally from the bierzo, to international attention. The tiny finca losada is at the top of the list and on the way to becoming a veritable insider's tip. An illustrious group of Spanish businessmen with a taste for fine food and the finest wines have come together and given amancio fernandez full powers to produce unique and incomparable pieces at finca losada. When it comes to elegance and finesse, losada's investors and producers are inspired by château petrus, no less. The subtle mencía grape should not give rise to monstrous, super-concentrated wines, but to charming, fine-drinking wines. The 'losada' grapes come from very old vines belonging to private growers, and the wine is aged for ten months in French and American oak. The top-of-the-range 'altos de losada' wine comes exclusively from the finca's steepest individual vineyards, planted over 60 years ago and biodynamically cultivated for some years now. There are only a few bottles of the exceptional elixir 'la bienquerida', which comes from a vineyard proven to have been planted over a hundred years ago. Losada shows that it's also possible to save money with its new pajáro wine, which has spent only a short time in wooden casks and has retained all its intense fruitiness. Allergene:enthält sulfite
