A talented thirty-something, sylvain dittière has worked for the gauby family, thierry germain, château yvonne and clos rougeard, where he became close to the foucault family. This very serious apprenticeship naturally led him to set up in montreuil-bellay in 2011, in an old, very cool cellar, perfect for the long maturation periods that are his trademark. The original range includes a Sauvignon Blanc from sandy-clay soils, aged for 14 months in barrel, and a Chenin, La Perlée, which has spent 24 months in barrel. The two reds, with their fine, precise ageing patina, offer compelling flavours and remarkable frankness of expression. domaine de la porte saint jean's white cuvée pouches comes from a parcel of land recently acquired by sylvain in the area of the same name, just outside montreuil-bellay. The chenin vines come from the upper part of the plot. The soils are composed of alluvium on quaternary limestone, with silty sands on the surface. The grapes then ferment naturally in concrete vats, before being gravity-fed into old Bordeaux barrels, stored in the tranquility of a cellar in the heart of the village.
