The town of Condrieu and its river port have enabled the appellation's wines to be exported and become known throughout the region. The name of the cuvée "Les Cassines" comes from the small dwellings of local fishermen on the banks of the Rhône, which bore this pretty name.

Good, but could do better for a Condrieu. The nose is promising, the attack frank and full, as you'd expect, but unfortunately the length is characterized by a bitterness that's too persistent for my taste.

The appellation Condrieu is part of the region of Vallée du Rhône from France which include Paul Jaboulet Aîné and its 59 cuvées. Spread over The Rhone Valley and its rich, complex terroirs. The region is divided into two distinct subregions: Northern Rhone (known as Rhône Septentrional) and Southern Rhone (Rhône Méridional). In the former we find strong wines in beautiful colours with warm, spicy notes, produced by vineyards that stretch 4,700 ha along the Rhone. The latter, with an area of 71,000 ha, is much more important, and this is evident of course in its annual production of red, rosé and white wines quite unlike those of the Northern Rhone., this region is 3 million hectolitres per year of red wines, rosés, dry and sparkling white wines, and natural sweet wine..
