Assembly : 100% syrah vinification : this wine is made exclusively with grapes from the méal hillside. This slope is made up of high terraces of rolled pebbles and clay. This is a Hermitage made from old vines aged around 50 years. Vinification The harvest, 100% destemmed, is vinified in a small cement vat. High-temperature maceration extracts the grapes' full potential, producing the supple, silky tannins needed for long-term cellaring. Only free-run wine is used for this plot-by-plot selection. The wine is aged 100% in new or 1-year-old barrels. Aging lasts from 14 to 18 months. TASTING : this single-varietal Syrah has a deep, inky-black color, iridescent with beautiful bluish highlights. The powerful, broadly nuanced nose reveals a bouquet of ripe fruit, blackberry, raspberry and redcurrant, with delicate, well-integrated smoky-woody notes, punctuated by herbs and licorice. A very fresh attack on the palate, evolving on a density and amplitude of greedy fruit. Powerful, velvety tannins carry through to a splendid finish of blackberry jam and spices.

The appellation Hermitage ou Ermitage is part of the region of Vallée du Rhône from France which include Maison M. Chapoutier and its 170 cuvées. Spread over The Rhone Valley and its rich, complex terroirs. The region is divided into two distinct subregions: Northern Rhone (known as Rhône Septentrional) and Southern Rhone (Rhône Méridional). In the former we find strong wines in beautiful colours with warm, spicy notes, produced by vineyards that stretch 4,700 ha along the Rhone. The latter, with an area of 71,000 ha, is much more important, and this is evident of course in its annual production of red, rosé and white wines quite unlike those of the Northern Rhone., this region is 3 million hectolitres per year of red wines, rosés, dry and sparkling white wines, and natural sweet wine..
