"Happiness and hard work go hand in hand" is the motto inscribed on the pediment of the 16th-century Renaissance Château de la Fresnaye, on whose land this Cabernet Franc flourishes. A singular terroir... in the heart of Anjou noir des schistes, a narrow vein of Devonian limestone (end of the Primary Era), with which the château itself was built, runs for a few kilometers, tracing a thin blue-gray thread along the left bank of the Layon. Here, Cabernet Franc speaks with a different accent, closer to its cousins in the "white Anjou" to the east.
