Renzo masi is at home in rufina. This small town in the sieve valley has given its name to the chianti that grows on the surrounding hills: chianti rufina. Along with Chianti Classico, this smallest of the Chianti vineyards boasts the best soils, the best microclimate and the best growing conditions. Chianti from the rufina region is a complex, intense chianti that has proven to be particularly enduring. Renzo masi is a family business. Father renzo drove the business forward with his calm, cautious style. Son paolo is a graduate of the viticultural school and has since worked with great enthusiasm and expertise in his parents' business. Renzo masi owns vineyards in the cru basciano, to the west of rufina. The valleys here are narrower than in the Classico region, and the slopes steeper.
