The winemaker
Major restructuring work has begun both on the former 18th-century winegrowers' house, which they are restoring to its original state using natural materials, and on the neglected vineyards that the former owner rented out to a sharecropper.
The estate is located on a hillside, 450 m above sea level, 3.5 km from the Barolo grands crus.
The terroir is composed of compact tufa and limestone, the rows are interspersed with grass and tilled soil, the vines are cultivated in rows and the high vines are pruned with single guyot.
In 2002, they replanted 1.5 hectares of new vines, half with Nebbiolo and half with Barbera.
Today's production is entirely certified organic.
The wines are vinified in stainless steel vats, then aged for 18 months in barriques, demi-muids and foudres, depending on the vintage.
The different cuvées are then bottled, with minimal addition of sulfur if necessary to ensure that the wines keep well.
