Appellation Barbaresco DOCG
BBarbaresco is a DOCG (Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) red wine grown in the Piedmont region. Barbaresco is often considered the twin of Barolo, another Italian appellation. Both came to the same period in 1934 and became Italy's first DOC (DOC) in 1966 and then the first DOCG in 1980. Barbaresco is produced entirely from nebbiolo. Its bouquet is a combination of raspberry, redcurrant, violet, but also bell pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg. The appellation needs at least 2 years of aging and obtains the title of 'Reserve' after 4 years. The production area includes the territory of the villages of Barbaresco, Treiso and Neive.
