This wine has an intense straw-yellow color. On the nose, it seduces with its perfume of hawthorn flowers and moss, as well as light notes of apple. On the palate, it's easy-drinking, supple and harmonious, with an elegant persistence of prune and bitter almond. The vines are planted in the 'spalliera', 'spornkordon' and 'palmetta' systems on selected vineyards in the doc zone of montefiasco, on the shores of lake bolsena. The mountains, of volcanic origin, lie between 250 and 350 meters above sea level, with loose soils rich in potassium and phosphorus. After harvesting, the wine undergoes temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 4 to 5 months in stainless steel tanks before being marketed. In the mid-19th century, luigi bigi founded the winery of the same name in ponte giulio, near orvieto. His passion was to rediscover the tremendous viticultural potential of the Orvieto region. On 196 hectares of vineyards situated between 250 and 400 meters above sea level, bigi began successfully experimenting not only with the typical Umbrian white varieties grechetto and procanico, but also with red varieties such as sangiovese, merlot and pinot noir, which thrive ideally on this terroir.
