The Barolo DOCG appellation is one of the most renowned in the Piedmontese region. Its appellation decree dates back to July 1, 1981. The vineyard extends over a production area of 2100 hectares in the communes of the province of Cuneo. The wines produced in the appellation are red wines made exclusively from the Nebbiolo grape variety. It is an autochthonous variety whose name means "mist" (Nebbia) and refers to the autumn mists on the hills of Piedmont.
