The winemaker

A rising star in Szekszárd, this young estate created in 1998 is run by Csaba Sebestyén and her sister Csilla, who worked for many years as a sommelier in a Michelin-starred restaurant in Scotland. They farm 12 hectares and replant each year with carefully selected plots in this rediscovered region. Humbly and attentively, the Sebestyéns are gradually taking the pulse of their vines. their loess soils and different mesoclimates, all of which are marked by a strong continental climate. The parcel-by-parcel approach is at the heart of their work, and makes for an interesting range centered on Kekfrankos, a delicate, charming grape variety, complemented by touches of Bordeaux varieties. We were particularly impressed by the restrained the restrained, classic style of the cuvées made from identified plots, the good taste of their ageing, the class of their touch and their never demonstrative aromatic distinction. We also found them stylistically close to the Cabernet Francs of the Loire, with the added refinement of tannins.
