Mas del Périé
(32 customer reviews)
Mas del Périé was born of the vocation of Fabien Jouves, a young winemaker who took over the reins of the family estate in Trespoux, on the highest slopes of the Cahors appellation, in 2006. Malbec, the region's emblematic grape variety, reigns supreme. However, despite the traditional image of Cahors wines as warm and robust, Fabien Jouves creates wines with fruity notes and a strong emphasis on freshness. Find out more

The winemaker
Respect for the terroir and biodynamics
Drawing on his farming heritage, Fabien Jouves has chosen to grow his vines in a traditional way that respects the terroir and the environment. The estate's grape varieties are typical of the region, with Malbec for the reds and Chenin for the whites. Because of the vineyard's location, surrounded on the one hand by the Quercy hills and on the other by those of Cahors, the use of parcel selection is essential to enable Malbec to express all its subtlety and finesse.
Fabien Jouves' organic, then biodynamic, farming methods enable the ultimate expression of terroir while respecting the viticultural ecosystem. Combining organic farming practices with biodynamic preparations, and taking into account the different planetary and stellar rhythms, Mas del Périé has acquired numerous labels certifying its commitment, including Demeter, Biodyvin and Agriculture Biologique.
As a result, every stage in the creation of the wine is carried out in the most authentic way possible: manual harvesting, natural vinification, absence of oenological inputs.
Emblematic cuvées
Within his "Vins de Terroir" range, Fabien Jouves gives free rein to the expression of the different facets of the Cahors appellation. Each wine reflects one of its characteristics. Amphore" stands out for its finesse and ripe fruit notes, while "La Roque" seduces with its simplicity. "Les Escures" brings freshness, counterbalanced by the tannins and ripe fruit notes of "B763".
Finally, "Les Acacias" recalls the sanguine, earthy side of the Cahors terroir. As for the whites, labelled "Vin de France", the Chenin grape variety is showcased in a variety of ways, from the expressive, sharp "Les Pièces Longues" to the fine, stripped-down "Orange Voilée". Creativity at the service of wines
In contrast to the "Vins de terroir" range, Fabien Jouves offers a more zany range entitled "Vins de Soif". These are more eclectic wines with rich blends and ageing techniques that demonstrate the winemaker's inventiveness. Creativity serves the quality of the wines, and gives them colorful, humorous packaging, with amusing names such as "Tu Vin Plus aux Soirées", "À Table !!!", or "You Fuck My Wine". The expression of renewal is also evident in the development of two sparkling white and rosé cuvées entitled "Somnam'bulles".
