The winemaker

The Buzet appellation is made up of 209 winegrowers spread over 1810 hectares of vines. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc for the reds, Sémillon and Sauvignon for the whites, are the noble grape varieties that make up Buzet. The terroir is harmoniously composed of silty boulbènes, clays, silts, gravels and clayey terrefort, the highest of which are found on ridges rising to 150 meters. The warm oceanic climate ensures that our vines thrive in ideal conditions. The average annual temperature is 13°, rainfall is limited and there are 1936 hours of sunshine a year. The remarkably sunny autumns are conducive to good grape ripening, essential for making good wines. In 1953, a group of men and women decided to join forces and create a cooperative. Les Vignerons de Buzet was born. Since then, Buzet wines have come a long way, including the award of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée AOC in 1973. Today, Les Vignerons de Buzet is a major winery in south-western France, selling Buzet appellation red, rosé and white wines throughout France and to the 4 corners of the world.
