The winemaker
The history of Domaine Uby
Domaine Uby is currently run by François Morel. This winemaker, who comes from a generation of Swiss winemakers who arrived in France in 1920, has been running the family estate for 10 years.
IGP Côtes de Gascogne wines are available in red, white and rosé. To optimize their ageing, a new winery was built in 2012. Domaine Uby is run using responsible, environmentally-friendly farming methods. The entire vineyard has been certified Viticulture Raisonnée Contrôlée for 10 years. Harvesting takes place at night, when the grapes are ripe, to preserve their quality.
The Uby tortoise
The Domaine d'Uby pond is home to an endangered turtle of a protected species: the European Cistude tortoise. The estate has signed an agri-environmental contract to preserve a natural area around the pond, so that the turtle can live and reproduce there.
The Domaine Uby vineyard
The Domaine Uby vineyard covers some 100 hectares of boulbènes and tawny sands. It has been completely restructured in recent years to further improve the quality of its wines.
The vineyard is planted mainly with local white grape varieties, complemented by other varieties to diversify the wine range. Domaine Uby's grape varieties include 25% Colombard, 20% Gros Manseng, 20% Ugni blanc, 12% Sauvignon, 8% Petit Manseng, 7% Chardonnay and 8% reds (Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot).
The wines of Domaine Uby
Domaine Uby wines are among the most successful in Côtes de Gascogne. They are typical of the South-West terroir, very fresh and fruity.

Uby range - N°1 Sauvignon Gros Manseng white wine is a blend of 60% Sauvignon and 40% Gros Manseng. It belongs to the Côtes de Gascogne PGI.
This is a round, aromatic white wine. It expresses fresh notes of exotic fruit and white peach. Round on the palate, with predominant lychee aromas. The finish is fresh.
Gamme Uby - N°1 Sauvignon Gros Manseng is best served chilled, at a temperature of 10°C, as an aperitif. It's a delicious accompaniment to seafood, sushi and fish, as well as white meat and cheese. It should be drunk young and is not intended for aging.
Turtle range from Domaine Uby - Red
Domaine Uby has created a range to pay tribute to the European Cistude tortoise. This is a very fruity red wine, made from a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Tannat, belonging to the IGP Côtes de Gascogne.
The red wine in the Tortue range is round and supple, expressing powerful aromas of black fruits, blueberries and blackberries, with a fine touch of toast. The palate is very fresh and aromatic.
Serve at 16°C with tapas, grilled red meats and cheese.
