The winemaker
A winery created and thought out with respect for the environment and people
In addition to the organic certification, the estate is also certified biodynamic by Demeter in 2016. All the practices implemented are respectful of people, the land and biodiversity. The team thus favors the use of natural products such as silica or horn dung to maintain the soil microcosm.
The entire operation of the vineyard is designed to minimize its impact on the environment at each stage of production. The buildings have been designed with this in mind as well. Rainwater is thus collected and used for the vines and all polluting effluents are recovered and treated on a bed planted with reeds.
Quality at the heart of the producer's project
Terroir
The Côtes du Marmandais appellation is relatively young, the AOC was created in 1990. It brings together about 90 winegrowers on a typical southwestern terroir with limestone and clay-limestone soils, very suitable for typically Bordeaux grape varieties. The grape varieties of the Beyssac estate are Merlot, Cabernet franc, common grape varieties in Bordeaux, but also Malbec and Abouriou, grape varieties of the southwest par excellence.
Abouriou, a typical red grape variety of the Côtes du Marmandais and Lot-et-Garonne appellation
Listed in the 19th century, Abouriou almost disappeared in the 20th century. It is the winegrowers of the appellation who decided to preserve it and they even created a conservatory in 2006 with this objective. It is an early variety and produces fleshy, generous, but very aromatic wines with a deep, sustained color.
The wines
The initial is the first wine produced by the Domaine de Beyssac, it has won numerous awards and is regularly mentioned in specialized guides, including Bettane and Desseauve or Hachette.
Depending on the vintage, the blend is made with Malbec and Merlot with Abouriou or Cabernet Franc. It is a complex red wine, but easy to pair with simple dishes or slightly spicy meats.
L'essentiel is a powerful yet silky and delicate red wine with spicy notes. Made from a blend of Abouriou and Merlot, it is perfect for accompanying holiday meals. The Merlot gives it fruity aromas and structure, while the Abouriou gives the tannins a patina. The result is one of the great successes of the Beyssac estate, with multiple award-winning vintages, including gold and silver medals at the prestigious English Decanter competition,
The Next World is a cuvée made following the first confinement, made from 100% of the estate's favorite grape, Abouriou. The result is a simple yet atypical wine with character.
L'escapade is a rosé wine with a surprising pink color, ideal for aperitifs or with a seafood platter. It has a nice length in the mouth and great freshness, with flavors typical of this terroir.
