The winemaker
Clos Troteligotte is a winery located in the commune of Villesèque, in the Lot department of the Occitanie region. The estate offers wines of the three robes, as well as a sparkling wine and an aperitif wine.
The Clos Troteligotte vineyard was created in 1987. It is perched on the high-altitude terroirs of the Cahors appellation. Situated at the junction between the Causses du Quercy Blanc and the Lot valley, the vines are encircled by woods.
Since 2004, Clos Troteligotte has belonged to Emmanuel Rybinski. As soon as he arrived, he set about restructuring the vineyard to carry out a micro-parcel selection and thus create a broader range, better reflecting the typicity of each parcel.
Emmanuel Rybinski cultivates his entire estate biodynamically, and offers AOC Cahors and Vin de France cuvées. The estate has been certified in Organic Agriculture since 2014 and in Biodynamic Agriculture since 2017.
To promote biodiversity, Clos Troteligotte has added beehives to its vineyards. It is also developing agroforestry (a land-use system integrating tree and shrub cultivation with viticulture) and ecopasturing.
In addition to its vineyards, Clos Troteligotte maintains 15 hectares of woodland and meadows encircling the vines.
The Clos Troteligotte vineyard covers 19 hectares and nestles at an altitude of 350 meters. The soil is predominantly clay-limestone, but is divided into several parts.
- The siderolithic clay-limestone terroir, rich in iron from the Tertiary period (50 million years ago). It is the most common on the Clos Troteligotte estate and, thanks to its ferruginous character, it gives the wine airy, mineral, delicate and elegant profiles.
- Kimmeridgian clay-limestone terroir, containing fossils from the Jurassic period (150 million years ago). It gives the wines their freshness, vivacity, minerality and salinity.
- Stampian clay-limestone terroir composed of white or gray marl, eroded from lacustrine limestone (-25 million years old). It provides both lightness and an aromatic palette rich in fruit.
Clos Troteligotte is planted with a wide variety of grape varieties, including the following: Chenin, Sauvignon, Viognier and Chardonnay for white wines, Cabernet Franc, Jurançon Noir, Gamay, Merlot, Tannat and Malbec for red wines.
Malbec is the emblematic grape variety of Clos Troteligotte, followed by Merlot and Tannat. Their grapes are authorized for vinification as accessory varieties in the Cahors appellation.
Aperitif wine is made from Tannat grapes. It is a muté wine, blended with Malbec eau-de-vie, itself distilled from the estate's own wine.
