The winemaker
The Château Gautoul estate in Puy-l'Évêque
in southwestern France, offers an exceptional Cahors
AOC wine.
The vineyards of Château Gautoul are mainly planted
on the best terraces of the Lot.
The grape varieties include 80% Malbec, 15% Merlot and
Merlot and 5% Tannat.
The soils are of rare diversity, mainly sedimentary
levelled by the alluvial deposits of the terraces
of ancient rivers. The vineyard brings together soils
with no less than five major grading characteristics
granulometry: silty, stony, calcareous, clayey,
siliceous. This mineral palette lends real richness
to Château Gautoul wines in the glass.
In the cellar, where the vinification of the terroir expresses itself,
maturation and blending are carried out with care and
respect for the product and for time.
Our oenologist Pascal Chatonnet supports the team
in all the important stages of vine-growing and winemaking.

Several of our wines have won medals at the Concours Agricoles
in Paris and Mâcon. Château Gautoul 2018 is
coup de coeur with 3 stars in the Guide Hachette
des vins 2021.
