Château d'Aydie
(20 customer reviews)
The history of Château d'Aydie begins with that of the Laplace family. In 1927, Fédéric Laplace acquired the château and began the renewal of the estate, placing the vine at the center of attention. In the Madiran and Pacherence du Vic Bilh appellation, 3 generations of the family have seen the estate take shape. Today, the 58-hectare vineyard is overseen by the watchful eye of Marie, Jean-Luc, François and Bernard Laplace. Find out more

The winemaker
The producer and the terroir
Domaine de Lagravière has always been known for the quality of its terroir. It was purchased at the end of the 17th century by the family of Count Hippolyte de Maurès de Malartic. Situated on a high terrace deeply cut by the Eau Blanche stream and its tributaries, the estate comprises 53 hectares, including 46 hectares of reds and 7 of whites. Enjoying a great reputation since the 20th century, Château Malatric-Lagravière is one of only six crus classified as both white and red in the 1953 Graves classification.
The family is committed to respecting tradition, while at the same time infusing it with a touch of modernity, for example with the installation of a highly innovative vat room. The latter is octagonal and comprises twenty stainless steel vats and ten truncated-cone, thermo-regulated wooden vats, which, thanks to their small size, enable plot-by-plot vinification.
The estate's grape varieties are 56% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot for the black grapes. The white grapes are 80% Sauvignon and 20% Semillon.
Graves Classified Growths 1953
The Château Malartic-Lagravière rouge is a wine marked by beautiful density, whose concentration is balanced by remarkable freshness. Its tannins are racy and elegant. Very Cabernet, it develops good aromatic power accompanied by great freshness.
The Château Malartic-Lagravière white displays a pale color with an intense nose, pure fruitiness, ripe and subtle. Floral nuances accompany notes of peach. Composed of 76% Sauvignon Blanc, it is mellow on the attack, juicy in the mid-palate, dense and airy, with a long, delicate finish.
La réserve de Malartic, now called Le Comte de Malatric, stands out for its filigree, inviting bouquet, marked by freshness and fruity notes. The attack is fruity and juicy. This is a sapid, delicious wine.
