The winemaker

The town of Chignin is located 15 km from Chambéry, in the direction of the valleys of the Tarentaise and Maurienne. She leans against the mountains "The Savoyard" in front of Granier. Since the early 20th century, the family of René Quénard favors ancient Roussanne grapes that will become the Chignin-Bergeron, named Bergeron apricot that then bloomed on the slopes of the Savoyard. The Chignin-Bergeron, niche 79 hectares AOC, is the flagship and pride of Savoie wine region where they grow vines already before our era, there are more than two thousand years. The estate is now owned by Claire Taittinger. The vines are planted on 18 hectares of which 11 are dedicated to Chignin-Bergeron. There are also specific varietals in the region: Jacquère and Mondeuse. Remarkably exposed, this vineyard has more beautiful soils, of a succession of déboulis cones, assembly, will promote diversity and typicality flavors. The rocky soil and sunshine hillsides reinforce very typical aromas of fruits (apricots, peaches, pears, blackcurrants, blackberries, cherries), honey and white flowers. Sometimes emerge more roasted notes (toasted almonds, coffee, cocoa) and spices (pepper) and a nice minerality.
