The winemaker

The first occupants of the place were the Romans who established a cantonment for Caesar's legions in Orange. The source Maucoil Castle and near the Via Agrippa are the cause of this Roman presence. A closer era is the archivist of the House of Orange Nassau (Royal Family of the Netherlands), Joseph of Pisa knighted to the rank of Lord Maucoil who inherited this area. The vine cultivation dates back to the 17th century and we kept plots from this period. This was followed by other owners, no less famous, like Goguet families Salmonière and Quiot who all contributed much to building and prosperity of the Castle Maucoil.
