The winemaker

Dauvergne Ranvier is the association of two enthusiasts who, after a wealth of professional experience in major wine companies, decided to create their own cuvées. When asked about his roots, François Dauvergne often replies, "My roots are half in Bordeaux, where I spent my youth, and half on the land of Saint-Polycarpe, near Limoux, where my family had a wine estate." As for his branches, they grew in the Rhône Valley, where he settled 15 years ago to begin his winegrowing career. As a child, Jean-François Ranvier more than once made his parents blush. Indeed, when they were all invited to the homes of family friends, little Jean-François couldn't help but inhale the smells of the house and detail them aloud...whatever the quality of the menu. Passionate about geology, he eventually chose oenology after graduating as an agricultural engineer. After running a consulting oenology laboratory, he took over responsibility for vinification at a major Rhone Valley winery. It was here that he met François Dauvergne, with whom he began working. In 2004, Dauvergne and Ranvier quit their jobs together to realize their dream: to create their own wines and make their house one of the most recognized in the Rhône Valley.
