In a few words ...

Romain le bars is a committed, humble and meticulous young winemaker who, after 7 years at domaine de l'anglore, set up his own domaine on just 1.2 hectares in tavel and produced his first vintage in 2018. At the time, he worked as a farmhand at l'Anglore and made his own wine in his garage. Today, he manages his operation, which has grown to almost 10 hectares on a full-time basis. The grape varieties have been diversified (carignan, cinsault, grenache, mourvèdre, roussanne, syrah, viognier and ugni blanc). Romain le bars has adopted a policy of low yields for his hand-harvested vines. In the winery, vinification is by carbonic maceration, with direct pressing and a strict minimum of sulfite added before ageing in barrels for several wines. Romain le Bars' lirac rouge comes from sandy, pebbly soils, with vines over 40 years old, and a blend of grenache, mourvèdre and syrah, complemented by cinsault and carignan. No sulfur added. A great Rhone wine, combining power and finesse of expression, impressive mastery for a winemaker having completed his second vintage.
