As soon as they arrived at Domaine des Grands Devers, the four Bouchard brothers set out to manage the vines as healthily as possible.
As the average age of the vineyard is quite high, close to 40 years, they felt it was essential to preserve this capital.
Under the impetus of Paul-Henri, the "in-house" oenologist, they decided to evolve their growing practices towards a "lutte raisonnée" approach.
Gradually, grassing and ploughing were reintroduced on the farm, as were organic fertilizers made from straw and lavender composts. At the same time, the four brothers invested in treatment equipment adapted to the biological and ecological behavior of the vines.
They have acquired a new face-by-face sprayer that allows them to reduce doses and distribute treatments perfectly.
perfectly distributed treatments.
This mindset has also led them to give preference to manual methods when it comes to major vineyard operations: leaf thinning, debudding, green harvesting...
A working method that not only respects the vines, but also delivers more rigorous and more precise results.
