The winemaker

The oldest part of the Domaine Les Goubert buildings dates from before 1636, and is one of the first to be built outside the ramparts of the medieval village of Gigondas. The Domaine has been run by the Goubert family for many generations. As the family name tended to disappear, Augusta Goubert, my mother, decided to give the estate her family name in order to perpetuate it. With my wife Mireille, I took over the estate in the 70s. As a pure autodidact, I've never stopped learning and perfecting my skills, both in the vineyard and in winemaking, to offer you wines without compromising on quality, and wines "as I like them", colorful, rich and full-bodied, but also full of finesse. A few milestones on the domaine My father and I used to work with an old crusher, and we had to climb up onto the vats, Then we built a reception dock for the skips, with a conquet and an auger to facilitate grape handling, Later, an elevating conquet with de-stemming and crushing enabled us to work our raw material with greater care and gentleness, Finally, since 2004, we have had a refrigeration system with flagging and automatic cooling. We are now working on maximum color extraction by cold, cold maceration and pre-fermentation, and launching gentler fermentations.
