The winemaker

From the seventeenth century, the wine business of our family is evidenced by the purchase from the bishop of Avignon vineyard parcel north of the appellation. Many generations succeed one another in the service of the vine but it was not until 1954 that Lucien Brunel creates brand Les Cailloux order to develop and communicate the characteristics and the qualities of the wines of the property. There is now talk of Domaine Les Cailloux. In 1971, André Brunel took over the conduct of the estate. Under his leadership, the Domaine will experience rapid growth: acquisition of vineyards in the Côtes du Rhône and Vin de Pays, launching the famous Cuvée Centenaire in 1989. It also introduced significant changes in the driving process of the vine being one of the first to Pope Chateauneuf practicing weed and have a non-chemical approach to culture of the vine. In 2012, his son, Fabrice Brunel joins to perpetuate family history. The estate is spread over three appellations: Châteauneuf du Pape course, but also Côtes du Rhône and the Vaucluse Wine. The search for quality, respect for terroir and ambition to always offer customers the wines they will appreciate as and when they grow to bring aging extreme care in their development, regardless of its name. The differences are mainly breeding periods (longer to Chateauneuf, shorter on Wine Country to make them quickly accessible) and the use of drums (for Syrah in Chateauneuf du Pape to rounding tannins absent on the Côtes du Rhône and Vins de Pays to maintain the freshness of the fruit). The estate has 21 hectares in Châteauneuf du Pape appellation, 2 white, spread over ten districts. The most important being Farguerol the north, and Reves Map Rhone in the South and City Park below the village. The soils are varied, pebbles course but also sandy and clay soils.
