The winemaker
Originally, the Grand Nicolet estate was not a wine-growing estate: the same land was planted with cereals, olive trees and only 1 hectare of vines. Joseph Nicolet saw the potential of viticulture and decided to add 2 hectares to the vineyard at the beginning of the 20th century. The Grand Nicolet estate was thus founded in 1926, and Joseph gradually abandoned cereal growing to devote himself to his true passion: wine. Today, the vineyard covers 31 hectares, most of which are located in the commune of Rasteau. Grand Nicolet grows exclusively red grape varieties: Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Cinsault.
