Vallée du Rhône
Domaine Gramenon
(12 customer reviews)
The domaine was founded in 1978 in the Drôme provençale region. Located at an altitude of 350 m in the foothills of the Pre-Alps in the southern Côtes du Rhône, it benefits from an exceptional terroir. Situated on a 550 m-wide plateau at low altitude, its soil is unique, with a significant presence of limestone, clay-limestone subsoils and plenty of sunshine. This situation gives the wines produced at Gramenon both sunny and fruity notes. Find out more

Natural practices and the use of biodynamics
To respect the grapes as much as possible, Domaine Gramenon doesn't use crushing equipment and transports the bunches by vibrating tables. Spring cuvées are matured in vats, while old-vine cuvées are aged in old barrels.
The producers have opted for organic and natural farming since the estate was founded in 1978. With increasingly extreme and frequent climatic episodes since the 2000s, they have chosen to go even further and move towards biodynamic farming. Domaine Gramenon obtained DEMETER certification in 2010.
These new practices have energized the soils and strengthened the plants. With a specific approach for each plot and a particular attention to letting the grapes mature, this evolution has further enhanced the quality and character of the wines.
The Grape Varieties of Domaine Gramenon
Perfectly acclimatized to the region's location and climate, Grenache is in the majority on the estate, with a multitude of plots of old vines, some as old as 120 years. These vines have deep roots due to their age, and combined with the specific characteristics of the soil, they give Domaine Gramenon wines a unique quality. Other grape varieties grown on the estate include Syrah, Viognier and Clairette.
The wines of Domaine Gramenon
The estate produces over a dozen cuvées of red and white wines. A small selection of wines to discover:
The cuvée "La vie on y est" is a white wine made from 30-year-old Viognier and Clairette vines in the Côtes du Rhône appellation. The use of Clairette grapes gives the wine unique apple and white fruit aromas.
"Poignée de raisins"is produced from young Grenache vines grown biodynamically, this Côtes du Rhône red wine benefits from natural winemaking and is aged 6 months in vats.
"La Sagesse"is a cuvée obtained from old Grenache vines grown biodynamically. We recommend waiting a minimum of one year after bottling, and tasting it after decanting.
"Tout en bulle" is a wine benefiting from the "vin de France" appellation. Vinified using traditional Ancestral methods, it drinks well chilled and is suitable for all occasions.
