Vallée du Rhône
Domaine Gramenon
(12 customer reviews)
The domaine was founded in 1978 in the Drôme provençale region. Located at an altitude of 350 m in the foothills of the Pre-Alps in the southern Côtes du Rhône, it benefits from an exceptional terroir. Situated on a 550 m-wide plateau at low altitude, its soil is unique, with a significant presence of limestone, clay-limestone subsoils and plenty of sunshine. This situation gives the wines produced at Gramenon both sunny and fruity notes. Find out more

The winemaker
Natural practices and the use of biodynamics
To respect the grapes as much as possible, Domaine Gramenon does not use any crushing equipment and transports the grapes by vibrating tables. The wine for the spring cuvées is aged in vats, while the old vine cuvées are aged in old barrels.
The producers have chosen organic and natural agriculture since the creation of the estate in 1978. With increasingly extreme and frequent climatic episodes since the 2000s, they have chosen to go even further and to move towards biodynamic farming. Domaine Gramenon obtained DEMETER certification in 2010.
These new practices have energised the soil and strengthened the plants. With a specific approach for each plot and a particular attention to letting the grapes mature, this evolution has further improved the quality and character of the wines.
The Grape Varieties of Domaine Gramenon
Perfectly acclimatised to the location and climate of the region, Grenache is in the majority on the estate with a multitude of plots of old vines, some as old as 120 years. These vines have deep roots due to their age and combined with the specificities of the land, they give the wines of Domaine Gramenon a unique quality. Other grape varieties found on the estate include Syrah, Viognier and Clairette.
The wines of Domaine Gramenon
The domain produces more than ten vintages of red and white wines. A small selection of wines to discover:
The cuvée "La vie on y est" is a white wine made from 30 year old Viognier and Clairette vines, in the Côtes du Rhône appellation. The use of Clairette grapes gives the wine unique apple and white fruit aromas.
"Poignée de raisins" is produced from young Grenache vines grown biodynamically, this Côtes du Rhône red wine benefits from natural winemaking and is aged for 6 months in vats.
"La Sagesse" is a cuvée made from old Grenache vines grown biodynamically. It is recommended to wait a minimum of one year after bottling and to taste it after decanting.
"Tout en bulle" is a wine with the appellation "vin de France". Vinified with traditional Ancestral methods, it is drunk well chilled and is suitable for all occasions.
