The winemaker
History
The end of the First World War sounded in 1918, and it was in its aftermath that the Long family's ancestors decided to settle in a small village near Vaucluse. Charles Long was the first in this line to acquire land, which he transformed into a flourishing farm. He planted vines, peach trees, olive trees and apricot trees, and gradually expanded the family estate. His son joined him in the adventure, and our duo went on to acquire 25 hectares of land...
It was a dream come true for the father, who at the same time passed on his love of farming to his son Raymond. The latter would be grateful, both to his father and to the village that welcomed him and his family after a difficult wartime period. He became involved in local life and created the Syndicat des Vignerons de Saint Roman de Malegarde.
His sons Daniel and Bruno Long were the third generation to continue the adventure. In 1997, Domaine Fond Croze was born as we know it today, with the new name you can see on our website.
A family history
It's a new organization with the two brothers at the helm, sharing the work. Daniel runs the vineyard on the viticulture side, while Bruno specializes in oenology. The pair works perfectly together, as they perpetuate an ancestral know-how on an 80-hectare estate. This didn't stop them from adopting organic viticulture in 2009, in order to get back to the basics of viticulture: respect for the earth.
The results are unmistakable: the wines are beautifully typified, with plenty of generosity and fullness. Daniel's son Guillaume has now taken over the reins after completing his studies in viticulture-oenology...
