The winemaker
The story began in 2001 with 1.5 hectares of vines leased in the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, south of Tain l'Hermitage. The estate has grown every year, and today covers 15 hectares (including 0.25 hectares of white Crozes-Hermitage).
From the outset, Emmanuel has attached great importance to vinifying each parcel separately, in order to bring out all the subtleties and lively expressions of the terroir. His ideal is to find the right balance by taking particular care with the harvest. The wine is aged in wood, mainly in barrels, but also in truncated-cone or ½ muid vats.
There are 2 Crozes-Hermitage red cuvées:
"Mise en Bouche": a flattering wine, with black fruits and violet cherries.
"Les Trois Chênes": a denser wine with more complex aromatic notes.
In 2009, 2010 and 2012, a plot-by-plot selection was created, only available in magnum, under the name "Au Fil du Temps": a more complex wine with notes of red fruits, spices and pepper, highlighting the minerality of the terroir.
In 2010, the estate added another appellation, "Saint-Joseph", covering 1.7 hectares (including 0.5 hectares of white Saint Joseph). Facing south-east in the Tournon/Rhône commune, this terroir is located in a place known as "La Dardouille", meaning "the sun that beats down".
