The winemaker

Domaine du Cayron is a family adventure. Founded in 1840, the Faraud family's passion for wine and vine-growing has been handed down from generation to generation. Today, the fifth generation is at the helm, represented by the three Faraud sisters: Delphine, Cendrine and Roseline. The vineyard, which covers a total area of 17 hectares, is made up of a mosaic of some twenty parcels spread throughout the Gigondas appellation. From the slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail, to the Col du Cayron at an altitude of 400 meters, via the Bois de Menge and the garrigues, a very complete range of the appellation's terroirs is represented. The vines are on average 40 years old, but the domaine also has parcels of 70-year-old vines. The work in the vineyard is carried out with respect for the environment, with integrated viticulture, and with respect for tradition, with yields of 30h/ha. The wines are aged in old foudres for at least 12 months to allow the tannins to reach full maturity and the flavors to blend harmoniously. Domaine de Cayron produces around 50,000 bottles a year.
