The history of the Towers estate

Albert Reynaud, Emmanuel Reynaud's great-grandfather, was a notary in the Avignon area. His early deafness, at the age of 45, forced him to reconvert and he decided in 1880 to buy Château Rayas.
br>Albert's son, Louis Reynaud, took over in 1920. He acquired the Tours estate between 1935 and 1938. The estate, located in Sarrians, was then an agricultural and polyculture property which Bernard, one of Louis' sons, took over the management. In 1945, Louis bought the Château de Fonsalette, located north of Orange, in the commune of Lagarde-Paréol, a property of about ten hectares of vines, woods and olive trees, which was entrusted to the youngest son of Louis Reynaud, Jacques. In 1978, when Albert died, Jacques took over and specialised in wine-making.
br>Jacques Reynaud died in 1997 and it was his nephew, Emmanuel, who took over the running of the three estates. At the time, he was already managing the Domaine des Tours, where he had founded the cellar and started marketing the wines in 1989.

The terroir of Domaine des Tours

Domaine des Tours is located at the bottom of the Vacqueyras appellation, in the Sarrians area. The 39 hectare estate is mainly planted with red grapes, which represent 36 hectares. The red grape varieties are composed of Cinsault for 35%, Merlot for 5%, Syrah for 5%, Grenache noir for 45% and Counoise for 10%. The total production of the Domaine des Tours represents 120,000 bottles per year.
br>The average age of the vines is 35 years. The grapes are harvested by hand and picked as ripe as possible. Grenache is the hallmark of Domaine des Tours: its colour is not very intense, in contrast to its deep, slender and spicy taste, and always with exceptional fruity aromas.
The wines of Domaine des Tours are complex, but always balanced. They have excellent ageing potential.
