Domaine des Anges
(7 customer reviews)
Domaine des Anges, located in Mormoiron, takes its name from the chapel overlooking it, from which the magnificent Mont Ventoux valley stretches out. Perched at an altitude of 350 metres, this pretty little vineyard benefits from the protection of the Giant of Provence, while enjoying optimal exposure for grape ripening. This is a winning recipe for quality wines. Find out more

The winemaker
A typical grape variety
The 16 hectares of Domaine des Anges are spread over several small hills at the foot of Mont Ventoux. The vineyards are planted with the region's traditional grape varieties, which flourish here. Syrah develops its characteristic spicy aromas, while Grenache brings balance with its notes of fresh red fruit. Finally, Cabernet Sauvignon, which thrives in Provence, adds tannins as the finishing touch to complex blends.
As for white grape varieties, roussanne, grenache blanc, bourboulenc and viognier are all found on the estate. Gathered together in a variety of blends, they create a delicate harmony of floral, fruity and acid notes, as well as smoky, vanilla aromas. The resulting wines are always expressive, sought-after blends.
A unique terroir
The Ventoux appellation, of which Domaine des Anges is a part, is the cradle of many great wines thanks to the complexity of its climate, the typicity of its soils and its unique environment. In fact, recognized as the highest vineyard in Mormoiron, the estate benefits from a relatively high altitude that favors cooler temperatures, which prove salutary during the sweltering summer months of Provence.
Overlooked by Mont Ventoux, Domaine des Anges is also protected from clouds, heavy rain and cold winds. It therefore enjoys a Mediterranean climate with a slight mountain influence. The region is also home to a distinctive geology. The soils are made up of sediments deposited by the seas of the Tertiary era at the base of the Ventoux limestone massif. The result is clay-limestone soils ideal for growing vines.
Last but not least, located in the heart of the UNESCO-recognized Mont Ventoux Biosphere Reserve, the vineyard benefits from the dynamics of integrating people and nature, fostering respect for a unique terroir.
A welcoming estate
Purchased in the 1980s by Irishman Gabriel McGuinness, he transformed the property into a breeding ground for the appellation's finest wines and made it a haven for lovers of Provence. Offering bed and breakfast in the heart of the estate, he conquers the palate of his guests with gourmet wines open to tasting.
These are the perfect accompaniment to dishes in sauce, as well as traditional Provencal dishes such as daube or ratatouille. The house philosophy: to offer wines that exceed the expectations of the epicurean with their palette of flavors and emotions.
