The winemaker

A family vineyard

Domaine de la Mordorée was founded by Francis Delorme, with his son Christophe in 1986. The family's ambition is to produce top-quality wines with passion and rigor, but they are just as committed to doing so while respecting natural balances and preserving biodiversity and terroirs.

All the wines have been certified organic since 2013, the estate received level 3 of the Haute Valeur Environnementale certification in 2019 and has been Demeter-labeled Biodynamic since 2020.

The Domaine de la Mordorée is run using sustainable agriculture, to encourage the creation of sustainable ecosystems. The constant search for balance with nature has enabled the vineyard to cope well with extreme climatic events that have caused much damage on other estates. Great care is taken at every stage of production, to ensure that our wines are of the highest quality.

Terroirs

At Tavel, the vineyard is made up of three main terroirs with soils poor in humus and therefore highly suitable for growing vines. The grape varieties grown on the Tavel estate include a majority of Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Syrah, Clairette Blanche and Bourboulenc. The climate is Mediterranean, with plenty of sunshine and the mistral wind.

In the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation, the terroirs are ideally suited to vine-growing, producing great wines that are deep, racy and complex. The vineyard has several plots in Cabrières, Crau and Nerthe, with varied soils and climates.

Lirac's terroirs have soils that are particularly rich in red silica. The vines produce deep, high-quality wines with plenty of freshness.

The terroirs in Côtes de Provence have a varied geology, with pebbles, clay and stony soils. The pebbles release the heat they have stored during the day at night, and the vines produce good wines for laying down.

The only terroir of the Domaine de la Mordorée that does not benefit from a Mediterranean climate is that of Condrieu. It lies south of Lyon and has a temperate climate, with less wind and more rainfall. The appellation tolerates only one grape variety, Viognier. It produces excellent white wines, very fine, particularly fragrant and rich in aroma.

The wines

La dame Voyageuse is a cuvée in the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation. It's a red wine with a very dark opaque color and good ageing potential. Fresh on the palate, with good length and aromas of red fruits, licorice and violets.

La cuvée Christophe Delorme is a 100% Viognier Condrieu white wine. It's a very round, complex wine with great fruity aromatic intensity (mango, white fruit, white peach).

La dame des bois is an elegant, airy rosé wine in the Tavel appellation. Aromas are complex with floral notes and red and white fruits.
