The winemaker
A rich soil and favorable climate for Christophe Billon's exceptional cuvées
Domaine Christophe Billon, located at Rozier, benefits from an exposure on the heights of Ampuis, with vines planted in terraces. His vines are grown on soils that vary from plot to plot, from Viognier on granite to Syrah on micaschist. Christophe Billon relies on sustainable agriculture for the cultivation of his vines, and is developing his know-how and production by expanding into the communes surrounding the Rhône.
Domaine Christophe Billon: wines with multiple appellations
Since 1991, Domaine Christophe Billon has been producing wines with the Côte-Rôtie appellation. These red wines, named Les Ellotins and La Brocarde, are made from a skilful blend of Syrah and Viognier. The winemaker then planted other plots and developed new cuvées, notably giving birth to La Bâtie, a vin de pays from the Rhone hills, in 2009. His first white wine, from a Condrieu parcel, appeared in 2011.
