The estate / the house / the cellar:
this top-of-the-range côtes du rhône from the domaine grand nicolet is out of stock just a few weeks after its release. This is probably due to mr robert parker who called it a' and rated it 90-93!
the wine:elaborated from 70% grenache, 10% syrah from old vines aged 40 and 50 years respectively, the blend is completed by 10% carignan and 10% mourvèdre. The result is fabulous, the wine bursting with the fruity flavors of the grapes.
aging and food pairing:despite its richness, you can enjoy it now, but if you give it a chance, it will improve over the next five years. This is a wine that will pair well with a wide variety of red meat but the cheese platter will be an excellent choice of accompaniment.

The appellation Côtes-du-Rhône is part of the region of Vallée du Rhône from France which include Domaine Grand Nicolet and its 9 cuvées. Spread over The Rhone Valley and its rich, complex terroirs. The region is divided into two distinct subregions: Northern Rhone (known as Rhône Septentrional) and Southern Rhone (Rhône Méridional). In the former we find strong wines in beautiful colours with warm, spicy notes, produced by vineyards that stretch 4,700 ha along the Rhone. The latter, with an area of 71,000 ha, is much more important, and this is evident of course in its annual production of red, rosé and white wines quite unlike those of the Northern Rhone., this region is 3 million hectolitres per year of red wines, rosés, dry and sparkling white wines, and natural sweet wine..
